Kids martial arts at Hou Man Do
WHAT YOU ARE WALKING INTO.
WHAT A CHILD LEARNS
To bow. To stand still. To look an adult in the eye and say yes sir. To fall without fear and get up without complaint. Then the kicks, the throws, the escapes, and a belt ladder that gives them something to earn.
TWO ARTS, ONE SCHOOL
Taekwondo on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday morning; Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. A child can train one or both. The master places every child after the first fourteen days.
MANNERS
An eight-Saturday course in bearing, protocol and self-command, separate from the martial arts: one law a week, drilled on their feet. No uniform, no belt. Twelve seats a cohort.

Questions
What age can my child start?
Five. Younger children are placed by the master after a short visit; call the desk.
Is there a uniform?
After the first fourteen days, yes: a dobok for Taekwondo or a gi for Jiu-Jitsu, bought at the desk. For the first two weeks, comfortable clothes.
How do belts work for children?
Taekwondo belts follow the Kukkiwon ladder with stripes between belts. Jiu-Jitsu children earn white, grey, yellow, orange and green under IBJJF rules. Nothing is given for showing up.
